Install Windows 11 Education or Windows 10 Education Edition at IU

Make sure you select your USB drive by clicking the drop-down button next to “Device“. Follow through the set-up wizard and assign your drive a letter and a name. As eager as you might be to install this lightest build of Windows 11, there are some things you need before we can begin.

We recorded a fairly large 14% reduction in the Corona benchmark for the 10700K in this series of tests, but that threaded workload isn’t included in our geometric mean in the prior section. We also saw a ~5% loss in the threaded POV-Ray and Cinebench tests, along with a 6% loss in the Blender classroom render. We also see a big drop for both processors in UL Benchmark’s PCMark 10 application startup test. Windows 11 uses more battery than earlier versions of Windows. It has a new feature called “High Efficiency Mode.” This mode helps you save power by shutting down unused features when they’re not needed. This is a special version of Windows 10 that is designed to help you restore your computer to its original state if something goes wrong.

Even though I knew that key window meant focused window in macOS terminology, it still took me a while to land on this code and start believing that this is really focusing a window. I’ve already written a lot of SwiftUI boilerplate in my other projects, so I’m mostly copy pasting stuff between Sublime Text windows. I also have three Sublime windows with disassembled macOS private frameworks to look for the hidden functions I need to improve the XDR Brightness curve and responsiveness. At least for Spaces I had yabai to provide keyboard shortcuts for moving the current window to whatever space I wanted to.

Many new game titles have dedicated visual settings that take advantage of DirectX 12 Ultimate to provide better performance and visuals.

  • It seems as though many Windows users are opting for new versions of Windows 10 rather than migrating to Windows 11.
  • A local pizza joint, a child’s bedroom…these are all places that scary events can take place.
  • Enabling VBS slowed Windows 11 down to the tune of 4%, which is not significant, but it does make Windows 11 appear slower than 10 when in fact it’s not.

Additionally, there is another experimental design that applies Mica to the dialog title bar. Windows 11 is more streamlined and easier to navigate with a touchscreen, with bigger touch zones and simpler, rounder menus. In many ways, Windows 11 is more akin to competitors like macOS, Android, and Chrome than ever before — and I think that’s generally a good thing. The trick is, there’s no clear indicator you can do this on older Windows Start menus — you have to read about it or just stumble into it by accident.

How to enable Simplified Quick Settings in Windows 11

There are also sliders for screen brightness and speaker volume. To customize what buttons you want to appear on the Quick Settings panel, click or tap on the pencil icon. The same viewing options remain, and there’s a new “New” button in the top left corner for new documents or folders supported by your apps.

Windows 11 Dev Build 25163 Reintroduces the Taskbar Overflow

I ended up turning on notifications, and I already hate it. Anyway, that’s the big complaint about things being centered. I haven’t had any issues with things being where they are.
